Art as Resistance: Yoga & Collage with Kaleidoscope PA

This workshop explores art as a form of resistance through creation. Resistance does not always have to be loud; it can also be reflective, restorative, and rooted in community care. Creating art allows us to reclaim agency, give shape to complex emotions, and reconnect with our values.

TIME & LOCATION

Mar 02, 2026, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Boalsburg Yoga & Wellness, 106 N. Church St. 2nd floor, Boalsburg, PA

ABOUT THE EVENT

This event is offered free of charge, though space is limited. In place of a registration fee, donations will be collected to support Centre Safe, a non-profit located in State College with the mission of empowering survivors of sexual violence, relationship violence, and stalking and to work toward the elimination of such violence. 100% of all funds received will go to Centre Safe.

Many people are experiencing feelings of anger, grief, frustration, and uncertainty in response to the current political and social climate. While these emotions are real and valid, they can also feel overwhelming when held alone. Art offers a different pathway, one that allows us to process, transform, and respond with intention rather than exhaustion.

This workshop explores art as a form of resistance through creation. Resistance does not always have to be loud; it can also be reflective, restorative, and rooted in community care. Creating art allows us to reclaim agency, give shape to complex emotions, and reconnect with our values.

The session will begin with 30 minutes of gentle somatic movement & yoga led by Kerri Zelman, designed to help participants arrive, connect and settle in. Following yoga, we will transition into a guided collage session, using paper, text, and ephemera to create personal visual responses to what we are feeling and witnessing in the world around us. Both facilitators bring trauma-informed training and approaches to this workshop. Participants will be encouraged to move at their own pace, make choices that feel supportive to them, and engage in ways that feel safe and comfortable. No art or yoga experience is necessary.
